Differentiation of Treatments on Various Types of Depressive Disorders

Depression a type of mood disorder that is characterized by its gross deviations in mood. Depression is diagnosed when a patient shows the typical symptoms of the disorder, which can be a sense of worthlessness, loss of energy, anhedonia, lack of concentration, and suicidal ideation. Depression can occur in a single episode or in reoccurring episodes. There are many variations of depressive disorders, which include major depression disorder (MDD), double depression and depressions that occur along with other disorders. Each type of depression further characterized by its own specific onset, course, and duration. Like most mood disorders, depression is co-morbid, meaning that it occurs in conjunction with other disorders such as eating disorders or substance abuse. In this paper I will attempt to discuss and differentiate treatment methods for multiple types of depression. The purpose of this study is to figure out if different types of depression can be treated with similarly or do each type call for totally different treatments from the others and why I feel that challenging different treatments could possibly lead to better more innovative treatment methods and therapies
